The Wet Cast Process

The "Wet Cast" process

Typical Head and CillWet Cast, as the name suggests is used to produce structural products like heads and cills. Slabs, beams and other similar products, which are for high exposure situations or structural situations where greater loads are required on the finished unit can also be cast using this process.

Typical Wet CAst Heads and CillsWet Cast has the added advantage of specialist finishes with the use of special sand aggregates, a massive spectrum of colours and textures can be achieved. A range of different finishes is available including lightly-etched or a more heavily etched exposed aggregate finish. A further advantage of using wet cast products is that it has the ability to be both an architectural decorative product and a load bearing structural unit through the use of reinforcement bar and mesh. Due to its load bearing nature it is commonly used for window heads where a steel lintel is not available or on large units such as drive through beams, slabs etc..

All our wet cast products are made to order as most are required to a bespoke structural design and specification. Please contact us to discuss your specific project needs.

Pickford Precast provides a fully bespoke service in the supply of wet cast products. The Company can also offer a full CAD design facility.
It is advisable to involve as early as possible in any project due to the longer lead times inherent in the wet cast manufacturing process.
